Description
This Colombian decaf is cupped specifically for its quality and sourced by single-origin, either region or farm. We call them Decaf De Caña because they’re custom decaffeinated in Colombia using a special, natural process that utilizes a solvent derived from locally grown sugarcane.
The process works by soaking green coffee in an E.A. solution, which bonds to the salts of chlorogenic acid in the coffee and removes caffeine. The coffee is removed from the solvent and steamed at low pressure to remove the E.A. compounds, and the finished product retains its flavor integrity but contains almost no caffeine at all. (The beans will contain a maximum of 0.01–0.03% caffeine.)

This the second Liquid Spirit De-Caff that I have tried. The first was Brazilian which is slightly more to my taste – rich and chocolatey. The Colombian De Cana has a brighter flavour profile with more acidity and fruitiness, and an undercurrent of biscuit flavour. An excellent Decaff from a coffee roaster who clearly works hard at getting the balance right.

These are the best decaf coffee beans I have used, an extremely great taste and our guests who say they never drink decaf coffee really loved it. I would certainly like to try the Brazilian mentioned by Martin in his review if Liquid Spirit have this one again.
